Annual inspections must also be conducted of horns, sirens, strobe lights, bells, and other audio elements of the system. Smoke detectors and smoke detectors must also be inspected and cleaned to ensure that debris build up won’t prevent an alarm from triggering.

These include replacing lead-acid batteries at least once every five years or at such times when the batteries no longer hold a charge.
